Seasonal guide

When to do what in your yard

What we're doing on Georgia lawns and landscapes all year long, for Bermuda, zoysia, centipede and St. Augustine. Timing shifts a little with the weather each year, and we adjust to it.

These aren't add-ons.

A thick, green lawn doesn't happen by accident. Each treatment builds on the last one, and together they make a lawn strong enough to handle Georgia heat, drought and weeds. The kind of yard that makes you want to be outside with friends.

Fewer weeds

Thick turf crowds weeds out, and timed treatments stop them before they sprout.

Deeper roots

Aeration and feeding grow roots that hold up through dry spells and summer heat.

A yard you use

Cookouts, kids, dogs. A healthy lawn handles all of it and still looks great.

Winter

Right now
  • LawnWinter weed control

Your Bermuda is asleep, but henbit, chickweed and poa annua aren't. We treat them now, before they flower and drop seed for next year.

  • ProjectsBuild season

Walls, patios, drainage and new beds go in easiest now. New plants root in all winter, and everything is settled and looking good by spring.

  • PlantsCrape myrtle and shrub pruning

We shape crape myrtles and summer bloomers the right way, following the plant's natural form. No hard topping.

  • LawnSpring pre-emergent

Late February into March, we lay down a professional pre-emergent barrier that stops crabgrass and summer weeds before they ever come up. Miss the window and you're fighting weeds all summer.

Mar – Apr

Early spring

Right now
  • LawnSpring scalp and cleanup

As Bermuda wakes up, we cut it low and clear out the dead winter layer so sunlight reaches the soil and the new growth comes in thick and even.

  • IrrigationSpring irrigation startup

We turn your Rain Bird or Hunter system back on, run every zone, fix broken heads and leaks, and set the controller for the season.

  • LawnBroadleaf weed treatment

Spring weeds are growing fast, which is exactly when a targeted post-emergent treatment works best.

  • BedsSpring pine straw

Fresh straw locks in moisture, keeps weeds down and makes the whole property look finished.

May – Jun

Late spring

Right now
  • LawnCore aeration

We pull thousands of small soil plugs to break up packed Georgia clay. Water, air and nutrients reach the roots, and the lawn thickens up fast in the heat.

  • LawnFeeding and second pre-emergent

Once the lawn is fully green, we start the feeding program and add a second pre-emergent round to hold off summer weeds.

  • LawnNew sod

Late spring through summer is the best window for new Bermuda and zoysia. Warm soil means fast rooting.

  • PlantsSummer color and azalea pruning

Summer annuals go in, and we prune azaleas right after they bloom so you don't lose next year's flowers.

Jul – Aug

Summer

Right now
  • IrrigationWatering check

Summer heat is hard on a lawn. We check coverage zone by zone so there are no dry spots and no wasted water.

  • LawnWeed and pest watch

Armyworms and grubs can wreck a lawn in days. We watch for them on every visit and treat before they spread.

  • PlantsHedge and shrub shaping

Keeping hedges tight through the growing season, so the property stays sharp.

  • ProjectsBook your fall and winter project

Cool-season build slots fill up. Getting on the schedule now means your project goes in on time.

Sep – Oct

Fall

Right now
  • LawnFall pre-emergent

A fall barrier stops poa annua and winter weeds before they start, so your lawn greens up clean next spring.

  • LawnFinal feeding

The last feeding of the year builds strong roots so the lawn goes into winter healthy.

  • PlantsBest time to plant

Fall is the best planting season in Georgia. Roots grow all winter while the tops rest, so plants take off in spring.

  • PlantsFall color

Pansies and violas go in now and bloom right through winter.

Nov – Dec

Late fall

Right now
  • BedsFall pine straw

A fresh layer looks clean for the holidays and protects roots through the cold.

  • LawnLeaf cleanup

Leaves left sitting smother the grass underneath. We keep lawns and beds clear all through leaf season.

  • IrrigationFreeze prep

We set your system for winter and check rain and freeze sensors, so there are no icy sidewalks or cracked pipes.

  • ProjectsLandscape and hardscape projects

Our favorite time to build. Cooler days, dormant lawns that bounce right back, and a finished yard waiting for you in spring.

Don't sit out the winter

Late fall and winter are the best time for new landscaping, walls and patios. Plants root in over the cold months, our schedule is more open, and your yard is finished before spring instead of torn up during it. Why spend summer in construction when you could spend it outside?
